Event finder trifecta
publish Related to Attractions in San Francisco.
My trifecta
In a nutshell, by combining:
You can find neat events in any city.
More feeds of stuff to do (in SF)
High signal-to-noise
i.e. Feeds that often post quality events
- Hardcoded search for “SF events” on the SF Examiner — This is my favorite because it’s hand curated by writers at the Examiner. Open this link and then only scroll to articles like “18 SF events happening this weekend”. It’s easy to skim and waaay nicer than sifting through grifter sites.
- On 2026-03-21 this tool led me to ikebana.org’s annual flower show, one of my fav museum exhibits ever! And not crowded.
Low signal-to-noise
i.e. Still contains quality events, but you’ll need to put in the work sifting through the bad ones to find the gems in the rough
- SF Funcheap (bonus: map view) — This site is actually pretty good. It’s an event aggregator, so YMMV, but it uses a no-frills Craigslist-style interface. Would recommend
- SF Examiner local events — Event aggregator but filtered to SF only. Decent options and you can filter by category
- https://lu.ma/explore — Mostly tech networking events. Occasionally there are other neat things
- Hayes Valley Artworks — Art events in Hayes Valley which is where I live!
- SF Bucketlisters — Aggregator site but specifically for ticketed events. Nice for finding oneoff shows, experiences, etc.
- Airbnb Experiences — Typically higher quality events than event aggregators because the event organizer needs to actually post themselves here.
- Reddit /r/SFEvents — Very hit or miss. Posts seem mostly like party promoters mixed with tech meetups. In terms of actual interesting events this is probably the driest feed here but hey you never know, lmk if you find anything here
Misc
- Sofar Sounds — Local indie “concerts” hosted in random secret venues across the city. I got to go to a concert in the SF ferry building which was fantastic. FYI they don’t pay their artists well so buy merch to support
- tiat’s Luma calendar — I personally have just been interested by this space lately
- https://agihouse-app.web.app/events — AGI hackathons get posted here
- https://chrislakin.events / https://lu.ma/chrislakin — interesting social experiment events in SF. He seems to have stopped posting as of mid-2025 though
